The Folding Fanatics of Third Grade!

Students folded their way into fractions today! Students kicked off their fraction unit with hands-on learning by folding rectangles of paper to create and explore different fractions. Learning is better when you can model it, see it, and touch it!

The 4th, 5th and 6th grade DEEP classes at West Bountiful Elem. worked together to make over 1,600 peanut butter and jam sandwiches to donate to Catholic Community Services of Utah. The sandwiches are shared with those experiencing homelessness throughout the greater Salt Lake area. Generous donations from parents and families made the project possible.

From wagon troubles to lucky breaks, our 2nd graders survived the Oregon Trail! They walked, ate pioneer-style food, and learned what life was really like during westward expansion.

Our countdown to break has continued! Students and Faculty have enjoyed more days of fun dress up! Including wearing candy canes, reindeer gear, Grinch vs Santa, and dressing as an elf! The holiday spirit has been high at West Bountiful Elementary this month!

Students and teachers have enjoyed dressing up leading to Winter Break. We had bling and glitter, snowmen, Grinch green, and some crazy hair!

Fifth grade hosted a wonderful Patriotic Presentation today. They sang songs and even learned how to do the Pledge of Allegiance in American Sign Language. Well done, fifth graders!

We are excited to announce our Yearbook Cover Contest winners!
Isabel Kim, a 4th grader, won the front cover. Our runner-ups—Betty Nelson, Millie Cox, Iris Thurgood, Zane Tingey, Wesley McCullough, Carter Payne, Ingrid Wallentine, Janee Bangerter, and Thea Castanso—will be featured on the back cover of the yearbook. Congratulations!

2nd Grade Olympics! Our young athletes traveled back to Ancient Greece to learn where the Olympic Games began — then showed off their own skills in friendly competition!

Splash Bash!

West Bountiful Students made a splash in September! Students who showed positive behaviors at school were celebrated by having a Splash Bash with Mrs. Whinam and Mrs. Kirkham. They played various water games during their bash! Students who show expected behaviors at school can look forward to a Mystery Treasure Hunt for October! Way to go Bear Cubs!

Kindergarten classes at West Bountiful competed in Nursery Rhyme Olympics! Students completed a series of "events" with all of the Kindergarten classes! This came after finishing their Nursery Rhyme and Fables Knowledge Unit.

Harry Potter Night was pure magic at West Bountiful Elementary last Friday! From enchanted activities to spellbinding fun, the evening was a great success. We extend our heartfelt thanks to all the witches, wizards, and Muggles who volunteered their time and helped make the night unforgettable.

Third Grade Scientists Explore Life Cycles!
Third grade students have been diving into the study of life cycles! Students identified cause-and-effect relationships in how plants grow and change and learned how environmental factors can affect a plants life cycle. The lessons culminated in students modeling pollination because pollination is an essential step for plants to produce seeds and continue the cycle.

Living Arrays in Third Grade!

Mrs. Stevens’ third graders didn’t just learn about arrays today—they became them! Students lined up in rows and columns to create “living arrays,” showing equal groups in action. With laughter and teamwork, they discovered how multiplication expressions connect to the patterns they made together. Math is always more fun when you get to be part of it!
