Dear West Bountiful Families,
As we approach Thanksgiving, we want to express my heartfelt gratitude for the continued support and involvement of our incredible community. Whether it’s through volunteering, attending events, or simply encouraging your children in their learning, your contributions help make our school a wonderful place to grow and thrive. Thank you for all you do to support our students and staff!
In the spirit of the season, here are three fun, education-based Thanksgiving activities that families can enjoy together over the break. These activities require little to no materials and are designed to inspire creativity, learning, and family connection:
1. Thanksgiving Story Challenge
What You’ll Need: Imagination and storytelling skills!
Gather as a family and take turns creating a group story about Thanksgiving. Each person adds a sentence or two to the story. Start with a prompt like, "One chilly Thanksgiving morning, a turkey named Toby decided to…" See how silly, adventurous, or creative your story becomes!
2. Gratitude Alphabet Game
What You’ll Need: A piece of paper (optional).
As a family, work together to come up with something you’re thankful for using every letter of the alphabet. For example, "A for apples, B for books, C for cousins," and so on. This activity is a wonderful way to reflect on the things you appreciate most.
3. Estimation Station
What You’ll Need: A jar or bowl and small household items like beans, cereal, or pasta.
Fill the jar with items and have each family member guess how many are inside. Afterward, count them together and see who came closest! You can mix it up by estimating how many steps it takes to walk across the living room or how many leaves you can find outside.
Thanksgiving is the perfect time to pause and reflect on all the good things in our lives, and spending quality time together as a family is one of the best gifts of all.
From all of us at West Bountiful Elementary, we wish you a warm and joyful Thanksgiving filled with love, laughter, and learning.
Important Reminder:
There will be no school from Wednesday, November 27 through Friday, November 29 for Thanksgiving Break. We look forward to welcoming students back on Monday, December 2.
With gratitude,
West Bountiful Elementary
